Boston
Boston is the capital city of the state of Massachusetts. As such, it enjoys the rich cultural history that only centuries of life are able to imprint on any city. Boston itself can trace its roots back to the year 1630 when the Puritans who had left England arrived at the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Little did they know that just a few short centuries later the Boston that started with little more than hard work and an emphasis on personal responsibility would become the home of Boston University, the Boston College, the ever popular Boston Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox. Yet Boston is not just a city of education and sports enthusiasm, but also a city that has seen its fair share of the darker side of human development. |

For example, the Boston tea party in 1773 is a pivotal moment of American history in that it struck the match that would soon engulf the entire country with the flame of the American Revolution. This act was preceded by the notorious Boston massacre which was the most talked about event in 1770. What began as a dispute over a vendor’s bill quickly got out of hand and at the end of the day five civilians were dead at the hand of British troops. This act sparked such an outrage that to this day visitors to Boston whoa re in town on March 5th will be able to attend a reenactment of the Boston Massacre that is actually staged on the very location that the historic events took place. Similarly, if you are looking for a site commemorating the Boston Tea Party, you will want to visit Griffin’s Wharf where Craig’s List Boston will from time to time advertise gatherings with learned docents who will lecture on the little known facts of the endeavor.
Of course, for those with a more contemporary taste for all things Boston, the offices of the Boston Globe and Herald permit for tours to see where two of the most influential papers of the nation are printed. Similarly, if you are in town, do not forget to visit the Boston Museum of Science! And if you are checking out the Craigslist Boston, why not find some fascinating classes to take for yourself or with a friend? Learn about Reiki, Yoga, and even stand-up comedy, thus not only adding culture to your afternoons and your stay, but also finding a unique new hobby that you – as a tourist – will be able to bring back home as a new passion. |
