Bulgaria
Bulgaria is commonly known as a Balkan country. Most visitors only see Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital. Yet there is so much more to this country than can simply be gleaned from a visit to one town alone. Like most other Balkan countries, there is a lot of history in Bulgaria, and throughout the countryside there are silent monuments that remind of the time of its antiquity and empirical greatness. A map of Bulgaria points the visitor to a plethora of castles and ruined towers – all testaments to the country’s warlike history and violent treaties that were formed as quickly as they were disregarded. To this day, Bulgaria and its politics are marred by dissent, corruption, and the remnants of the USSR communism it embraced once upon a time. A physical map of Bulgaria will get the tourist acquainted with the beauties of the countryside, such as Seven Rila Lakes, peak Musala, and Rose Valley. The Black Sea is always a popular tourist attraction and by visiting there you will actually distance yourself from the capital of Sofia, which is probably a good idea since you will want to see as much of the country as possible. |

As you are traveling through Bulgaria, the odds are pretty good that you will become used to the Bulgarian money and may even have read some ads for Bulgarian property investments. Now, houses for sale in Bulgaria are not rare, but what is important to remember is the fact that the Bulgarian idea of homeownership is a bit different from the Western model. Instead of assuming that the process of investing some money will be identical, it pays to talk with an attorney well versed in property rights in this area who will advise you without bias.
While many see Bulgaria as an up and coming vacation hotspot in the Balkans, others are more cautions when they travel Bulgaria, and whenever they see Bulgarian property for sale or lease, they still consult their Bulgarian maps to ensure that the property as listed is actually on the map. Too often conmen have listed Bulgarian properties for sale that were not theirs in the first place. Yet since the only telephone number the weary investor had led back to a prepaid Bulgaria SIM card – usually in a prepaid phone – there was little that could be done to reunite the investor with the money. None of this should discourage you from owning your Bulgaria country dream house, and if seeing the Bulgarian flag makes your heart beat just a little faster and if Bulgaria maps adorn your home, then you know that you have at least part of your heart already in Bulgaria – might as well allow the rest to follow, too! |
