Indianapolis (IN)
Indianapolis (IN) is the home of the USS Indianapolis, the Indianapolis zoo and of course the University of Indianapolis. Beautiful in its own right, Indianapolis (IN) is home to the monument circle where you will be able to see the Soldiers’ and also Sailors’ Monument, Broad Ripple Village with its art galleries and boutique restaurants, and also Fountain Square where you will be able to visit the heart of the local arts scene. Yet nothing rivals these offerings – in the eyes of devoted sports fans – as much as the Indianapolis (IN) sports teams. Indianapolis (IN) is home to a wide variety of sports clubs, and was even crowned “Amateur Sports Capital” a few years ago, and with good reason! Consider the fact that the love of sports and competitiveness begins as early as in the years spent in Indianapolis public schools where children will learn to cheer on their high school teams, profession teams, and of course the ever revered Indianapolis Colts. Cheerleaders for this team of the national football team may be found as early as in the kindergarten years - Indianapolis Colts wallpaper undoubtedly adorning many a child’s bedroom - and when the kids are a bit older, they gladly cheer for the Indianapolis Indians and Indiana Pacers as well. |

Indianapolis (IN) is not only home to the ever present Indianapolis Colts logo, however, but when there is a lull in Indianapolis Colts football and nobody is placing a bet on the Indianapolis Colts the Indianapolis hotels are filling up fast and furious with guests who come to watch the Indy 500 on Memorial Day. The Indianapolis airport is buzzing with racing fans who flock to this racing Mecca, and the prices of hotel rooms close to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway skyrocket for this weekend beyond belief. The Indianapolis Star and many other Indianapolis newspapers will carry ads placed by private parties who will rent out a guest bedroom or makeshift shed to the racing fan. More often than not even the smallest abode is eagerly rented by the hardcore Brickyard fan that has managed to score tickets for the two and a half mile race track and will expose her or him to sun, wind, and weather simply to soak in racing at its finest. As you can see, sports appears to be the lifeblood of this fair city, and if you are a sports fan, then there is no other place where you want to go and visit.
