Peru
Peru is a well known republic located in South America. The country is famous for being the heart of the Inca culture as well as a variety of civilizations that predate the appearance of the Incas in Peru. Nowadays, Lima, Peru, is a hotspot of urbanization and many tourists have their first interactions with the country at the harbor of Lima – Peru-bound excursions from the major cruise lines will usually drop of their passengers there – where the Peru flag is proudly displayed and vendors seek to outdo one another in an effort to sell authentic Peru food. While it is somewhat questionable just how authentic this food is, it is indisputable that much of Peru history is closely connected with the European nation of Spain which took over ownership of the country for a while. Like many other South American nations, facts about Peru show very clearly that the Spaniards – in search of gold, spices and adventure – claimed the country for the crown of Spain and paid very little attention to the impact they were having on the culture of Peru. After the Spanish gave up their claims on the country, the history of Peru was given over to its people, and it took a short while before they were able to create their own culture. |
